About
I'm drawn to the overlooked.
My name is Lukas Mari. I am a documentary photographer based in Vienna, with a degree in journalism.
I photograph the incidental, not the postcard. Nothing spectacular, often overlooked, and that is exactly why it stays.
In no hurry, in available light. Nothing is staged. The pictures come from Vienna and from further away: Egypt, India, New Zealand, the Arctic. Where they were taken matters less than what they hold.
In 2026 I self-published my first zine, One More Light: Four Quiet Observations. Right now I am working on a photobook about Egypt: Cairo, the monuments, Luxor, seen through the people who live beside them.
Open to editorial assignments and commissioned documentary work, in German and English. Work with me →
