Frankfurt

Glass and Strangers

A city I never quite warmed to. That turned out to be the reason to photograph it.

Towers of glass and money, faces that pass and do not stay, a single figure small against the concrete. I kept looking for a centre and kept finding the cool surface instead.

An empty room with an open window looking out to the distant skyline.
A colourful climbing wall stands in front of the glass bank towers.
A businessman crosses an empty street in front of a large modern building.
The shadow of the Hammering Man sculpture falls over a small businessman below.
Men in suits walk away through an empty arcade.
A grid of office windows at night, only some of them lit.
A tiny figure at the top of an escalator, seen from far below.
A lone silhouette rides an escalator down into a station.
Shop windows of Saturn and Zara curve along a city street.
A reflection in a train window, a person passing, a wifi symbol beside them.
A spiral ramp curves through a concrete parking structure.
The tilted red entrance of the Bockenheimer Warte subway station.
A street scene, a man bending down beside a parked van.
A cleaner with a cart works at a glass entrance.
A young man in a 'Juggling' shirt juggles at the edge of the road.
A night street with traffic lights and red tail-lights, office buildings behind.
A woman in a yellow dress crosses the tram tracks at night under a street lamp.
A person in an Eintracht number-ten shirt sits on a bench facing the skyline across the river.
